Mafadi Highest Peak in SA

An incredible 4 day, 3 night hike to the highest peak in South Africa. This hike is rated as one of the harder hikes that we offer due to the 2000 meters of elevation gain we will do over the first two days. That amounts to 1000m each day.

The hike covers 60km over the 4 day period and is generally done as a circular route. Notice the wording “generally”? Safety is very important to us thus we don’t have a set route as heavy rains can cause the route to change. Due to recent floods in the Inisuthi Area we know run this hike from Giants Castle, making use of Judges Pass and Bannerman Pass. The two middle days are extremely long and tough.

Our meeting point for this hike is at Giants Castle at 8am. We recommend taking a drive down the day before and staying about halfway, avoiding the early wake up call at 2am to drive down from JHB. The cost for this hike is R5,000 per person and includes the following:

• qualified mountain guide and wilderness first responder
